Put Down the Fork

I don't hold sway to the conventional thinking on Body Mass Index. It is problematic in many different ways that I'm not going to extrapolate on now. But it is a measurement that we have to compare populations with.

Alex at Marginal Revolution posted this chart from the NYT's Economix blog(hat tip Chris S.).

Notice the two countries with the lowest population with a BMI greater than 30%? Japan and Korea. Now, the reasons for this number somewhere between a host and a ton, but I'm going to pull the lazy, layman sociologist move and say it's because of chopsticks.

So eat with with chopsticks and lose weight! Where's my book deal?
